i'm doing a thesis for university on android platform,
I'm trying to port a java client voip app on android platform

this app

i tried to use dx tool (in android's tool)
but seems doesn't work.

Somebody can help me?

Hi Fabio,
it looks you are trying to port a javaME app to Android by acting only at bytecode level: as far as I know, the dx tool can be used to convert java bytecode (.class) to Dalvik one (.dex)

Unfortunately, at the moment, I think this approach is not appropriate since Android is a quite new platform which has only a compatibility layer for Java. In other words, I think you have to start from the Java code of sip-communicator, looking for sections of code that are not compatible and trying to make them suitable for Android (yes, sorry you cannot assume that 100% of javaME code is OK for Android... )

If you wish to lear more about the interesting topic of porting Java ME apps to Android, I also suggest to google for ME4Android which should be a Java ME emulator implementation devoted to run JavaME applications without any change at code level.

By the way, I have been awaring of SIP Communicator since many time, now I am happy to realize that many progresses were made and an alpha release is available.

Please let me know your step by step progress on this issue.
